culby: When I’m adding my 7th grade math teacher, I’m thinking it’s about time to wrap it up. I think it will only survive as a glorified contact list. A good way to tell people you’re getting married (in hopes of getting gifts) but the whole “status” thing got old right away. For those who have that itch, twitter scratches it much better. And for those who really want to express themselves and share their lives, tumblr (and whatever will come next) will steal that thunder.
The real reason Facebook is screwed is how people freak out at every simple, run of the mill change to the look of Facebook. The people who care about Facebook freak out so much that any wholesale updates or improvements are likely impossible. It’s like what would have happened if AOL had been unwilling to adapt and change because of a customer base that didn’t adapt well to change. Just imagine that would have happened then!
